Cleaning Tile Floors

Tiled floors are low-maintenance and durable, and very easy to clean. However, your tiles may suffer damage if not kept clean, as dirt and sand can scratch the surface. Also, the grout darkens over time as it absorbs dirt. Here are few tips to help you maintain gorgeous tile floors in your home.

Vacuum or sweep your tiled floor at least twice a week to keep those grains of dirt away. Be sure to use a soft attachment for your vacuum to avoid scratching.
When the time comes for a wash, fill a bucket with warm water and a few drops of soap. Wash your floor with a mop, making sure that you rinse it regularly and change the water when it becomes too dirty. Follow up with at least one rinse with a clean mop and plain water, no soap.
Afterwards, you can dry your floor with clean towels to help pick up any leftover dirt and prevent water spots.

If you have unglazed tiles, they cannot be left wet as they are more porous and more likely to accumulate organic staining from mildew. It is best if you mop your unglazed tiles with plain warm water regularly. Avoid using a sponge mop as it can drive dirty water into the grout.
